Enhancements to largest online physician community

New Sermo Platform Lays Foundation for Growth and New Offerings

Sermo, the largest online physician community, today introduced the all-new Sermo with a completely redesigned look and feel and top-to-bottom improvements to how physicians find relevant content, track topics of interest, and participate in discussions with colleagues. More than a year in development, the new Sermo incorporates feedback from thousands of physicians across different specialties and is built on a new platform that lays the foundation for Sermo’s next phase of growth.

“For nearly four years, our mission has been the same: Connect and empower physicians to improve patient care,” said Founder and CEO Daniel Palestrant, MD. “The new Sermo reflects years of experience and the combined efforts of tens of thousands of physicians working with Sermo to create a new standard for peer-to-peer collaboration and patient care.”

To date, physicians on Sermo have driven over 50,000 posts, 1 million comments and nearly 4 million votes. The new Sermo offers enhancements across all areas of the community, including:

  • A clean, modern user interface with a new look and better organization of content.
  • Powerful tools for searching posts and comments with advanced filtering by date, specialty, and category.
  • Real-time activity updates about topics of interest, personalized for each physician member.
  • Quick navigation links to key content areas such as earning opportunities and practice management discussions.
  • Faster post creation and the ability to add up to 10 images.
  • New areas for sharing information about events, conferences and jobs.
  • Increased speed for easier navigation of relevant content.

Since the all-new Sermo was launched, activity in the community has reached record numbers. With the changes, Sermo can also respond to user feedback and introduce new applications more quickly. Many physician members of the online community have already weighed in on the new Sermo:

“Sermo has been a great place to see/listen to what others are also experiencing – no longer can we just practice medicine. Those of us who are solo practitioners need Sermo to see what colleagues are thinking, etc. The site that has become even easier to use- Thanks!”
Dr. Lamberson, Family Medicine

“The redesign does look ‘cleaner’ and more inviting, and there is a sense of familiarity with the website – no doubt related to the fact that it now has more in common with other sites I visit frequently. I look forward to exploring the site in more detail. Thanks for your efforts to make Sermo a positive tool for the physician community.”
Dr. Westfall, Family Medicine

“Nice design elements. This will require me to stop back more frequently to see how all this will impact the quality of the posts. Thanks and nice work!”
Dr. Tomblyn, Oncology

“This new version of Sermo is absolutely fantastic. I particularly like the capability of uploading more images. As a cardiologist it will help me tremendously to be able to upload echos, Cardiac CT, Cardiac MR, Nuclear Scans, and Catheterization images.”
