Roses are Red, Violets are Blue…

Last week, people all over the world celebrated Valentine’s Day. Celebration usually consists of spending time with a significant other, but many opted to celebrate with friends or just by loving themselves! In spirit of the holiday, we asked doctors to write their best medical poem, using the timeless “Roses are red, violets are blue” template.

We wanted to share some of their best entries:

“Roses are red
violets are blue
your eyes may be both
when you have the flu.”  – Ophthalmology

“Rosacea is red,
Cyanosis is blue.
The former needs antibiotics,
The latter – O2……”  – Radiology

“Roses are red
Violets are blue
I wish patients did
What I tell them to do!”  – General Surgery

“Roses are red
Violets are blue
If not for your lungs
Your blood would be, too.”  – Pulmonology

“Roses are red,
Violets are blue.
First the precordial thump,
Then I’ll intubate you!!”  – Emergency Medicine

“Roses are red
violets are blue
Push that baby out
I can’t do it for you.”  – Family Medicine

“Roses are rosey
Violets are violet
Medicine is hard
I shoulda been a pilot.” – General Practice
