Pain after vasectomy
Submit Your Answer
Here is a question sent to me about post-vasectomy pain due to my websites on the topic:
Hoping someone can offer some advice in regard to my situation. I have had chronic pain after my vasectomy and about 3 years after my vasectomy and after numerous consults with a urologist , I consented to"exploratory" surgery. I thought it was basically a "look see" type of procedure but he removed about 2 1/2" of the offending vas and sent it off to a pathologist.
I'm somewhat fortunate that I have only had the constant pain in my left side since the vasectomy, except for the occasional bout of epidymitis on the left which tends to disappear quickly. After 5 long years of dealing with a constant 2 to 3 pain level on the left, I still have no clue whether it is congestive or neuropathic in nature as it does worsen after sex, but I also have shooting pains throughout my groin and into my buttock on occasion for no apparent reason.
I'd always thought (and was told by several urologists) that I was alone. Anyway, my thought's at this point are that a reversal would be the ideal first step toward resolution, but due to the excision of the a portion of the vas, would anyone know if that is still a possibility? I have also run into a road block with urologists when it comes to even the possibility of a reversal for pain reasons.
I've had 3 separate illonguinal( sp?) nerve bocks with no resolution to the pain. Are there other branches of nerves that could cause pain in this area? and would this make denervation a non option?
